Very bad news (May 2012) from Abu Rawash it seems, although only in Arabic. Robin Young offered a summary of the article on Facebook:
“… a village has been erected, and possibily an additional six villas on the high ground at the hill at Abu Roash. Drilling for sewer pipes going on. The public land belonging to SCA, entreprenuers have sold it off to people wanting to build homes. Earth moving equipment being employed to prospect for antiquities. Thugs are harming people who protest, and guards are set up on perimters to keep intruders away. French mission site compromised, iron gate removed. Now a very dangerous area.”
