Egyptological is One Year Old Today

The first edition of Egyptological was published a year ago on 30th June: our birthday.  Of course Egyptological had a long gestation, with a sample edition and a long build, but the day we celebrate is 30th June.

It has been a great first year.  We are so grateful for the stalwart support we have received from our writers, photo contributors, translators, proof readers, everyone who has added comments to our site  and all our visitors.  We also welcome on board our new Features Editor, Barbara O’Neill, about which more when she returns from excavation in Egypt. A big thank you to one and all.  It has been fun working with all of you and we are both looking forward to continuing to do so in the coming year.

To celebrate we have compiled a couple of albums of some of the best photos from the year, sort of a best bits compilation.  There’s one photo from each of the albums submitted, and it makes up a remarkable collection, reflecting how much enthusiasm we all have for Egypt’s heritage.  See our Anniversary Albums Part One and Part Two.

We have a lot of plans for the next year.  The next edition, provisionally scheduled for the end of July is a great one.

Now, as ever, we are looking for more writers for all three sections to ensure that we build on these solid beginnings, and continue to grow.  Please get in touch if you have an idea for a piece, from as short as 500 words to a maximum of 8000.  If you have a favourite museum object, why not share your enthusiasm and write about it?  If you have recently completed a dissertation or thesis, and would like to see it published on Egyptolological, we would be interested in hearing from you too.  Help us to make the next year of Egyptological even better.

Imagine a few celebrationary fireworks if you will!  We lift our glasses to you,  with our thanks again.

All the best from both of us
Kate and Andrea
